Discover the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds: A Guide
*Monster Hunter Wilds* has streamlined many of the series' traditional systems, making it so you hardly need to track monsters anymore. However, there's one notable exception: tracking down the elusive Black Flame. Here's how to find and confront this formidable foe in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
Tracking the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds
Around the midpoint of the main storyline, specifically in Chapter 3, the Black Flame monster makes its dramatic entrance before quickly vanishing into the Oilwell Basin. Your mission is to track it down and ultimately slay it.
Start by leaving the Base Camp and make your way to Zone 9 of the region, as marked on the map below:
As you journey towards Zone 9, keep an eye out for tar tracks on the ground. Once you interact with these tracks, your Hunter will pick up the Black Flame's scent, automatically sending the trail to your scoutflies. These scoutflies will guide you with a clear, green path directly to the monster's location. Continue following this illuminated path to Zone 9, where you'll find a massive flaming crater.
The Black Flame, also known as Nu Udra, is a tentacled beast that unleashes powerful fire and flame-based attacks. To make the battle more manageable, prioritize severing a few of its tentacles first. This strategy will grant you easier access to its more vulnerable inner points, allowing you to gather more materials once the fight is over.
Additionally, it's wise to carry Cool Drinks with you to combat the region's intense heat, which can otherwise cause continuous health depletion.
That's all you need to know to track and defeat the Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and in-depth guides on the game, including how to change your Palico's language and capture monsters, be sure to check out The Escapist.
