"Cosmo Jarvis Confirmed for Shogun Season 2, Decade Later"
The critically acclaimed series *Shōgun*, which swept up an impressive 18 Emmy Awards and 4 Golden Globes, is gearing up for an eagerly awaited second season. Cosmo Jarvis, known for his role as pilot John Blackthorn, is set to reprise his character and take on a new role behind the scenes as a co-executive producer, as announced in an official press release from FX.
Hiroyuki Sanada, who plays Lord Yoshii Toranaga and signed on for Season 2 last May following the show's renewal, has been elevated to the position of executive producer after his contributions to the original series. Production for Season 2 is scheduled to kick off in Vancouver, the filming location of the first season, in January 2026.
FX has teased that the second season of *Shōgun* will be "a wholly original new chapter to the first season," diverging from the source material of James Clavell’s novel. The network elaborated on the narrative arc spanning the two seasons:
"In the first season, Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Sanada) fought for his survival as his enemies in the Council of Regents united against him. When a mysterious European ship was found marooned in a nearby village, its English pilot John Blackthorne (Jarvis) shared vital strategic secrets with Toranaga that tipped the scales of power in his favor to win a century-defining civil war.
"Part two of *Shōgun* is set 10 years after the events of the first season and continues the historically-inspired saga of these two men from different worlds whose fates are inextricably entwined."
Fans are hopeful that new episodes of this stellar series will grace our screens by the end of 2026. Until then, the anticipation builds as we await further updates.
