Square Enix has recently celebrated the 30-year milestone of the iconic JRPG, Chrono Trigger. This significant anniversary is set to be marked with a series of projects that will be unveiled over the next year. While details remain under wraps, the announcements hint at possibilities that could extend well beyond the game itself, sparking excitement and speculation among fans.

Chrono Trigger, a game revered as one of the greatest JRPGs ever created, has long been anticipated for a comprehensive remaster or a modern console release. Despite its popularity, the game has only seen a PlayStation port back in 1999 and subsequent releases on PC and mobile platforms. A definitive modern version has yet to materialize, leaving fans hopeful that Square Enix's upcoming projects might include such a long-awaited update. Known for revisiting their classic titles, Square Enix's history fuels this optimism.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to a special livestream concert featuring Chrono Trigger's legendary soundtrack. This event will be available to watch on YouTube on March 14th, starting at 7:00 p.m. PT and continuing into the early hours of the next morning.

For those new to the series, Chrono Trigger is a time-traveling RPG developed by a stellar team including Hironobu Sakaguchi of Final Fantasy fame, Yuji Horii of Dragon Quest, and Akira Toriyama, the artist behind Dragon Ball. The game, first released in 1995 for the Super Famicom and SNES, follows protagonist Crono and his companions as they traverse various time periods, from a prehistoric era filled with dinosaurs to a dystopian future dominated by an alien force. Players will recruit allies, manipulate history, and confront one of gaming's most memorable final bosses.

As the 30th anniversary celebrations unfold, while there's no confirmed news of a remake or console port yet, Square Enix's announcements keep the possibilities alive. Stay tuned to Chrono Trigger's X page for the latest updates on what's in store.
