Borderlands 4 Release Date Confirmed
Gearbox has officially announced the much-anticipated release date for Borderlands 4. During the latest State of Play event, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford revealed that fans can mark their calendars for September 23, 2025. To celebrate this exciting news, Gearbox unveiled a new trailer that showcases some of the innovative gameplay features set to enhance the Borderlands experience.
One of the standout additions highlighted in the trailer is the introduction of a grappling hook, promising to add a new dimension to exploration and combat. However, fans of the series' signature blend of over-the-top guns, explosions, and chaos will be delighted to see that Borderlands 4 continues to deliver on that front.
In addition to the release date announcement, Gearbox also revealed plans for a special Borderlands 4-themed State of Play event set to premiere this spring. This dedicated showcase will provide fans with an in-depth look at new gameplay mechanics and, of course, an array of new guns to get excited about.
While we await further story details, there's been a hint that Borderlands 4 might shift away from the heavy reliance on "toilet humor" seen in previous entries. It remains to be seen whether the game will adopt a more serious tone or continue the franchise's tradition of irreverent humor.
Stay tuned for more updates on Borderlands 4 as we approach the special State of Play event this spring. In the meantime, you can catch up on all the major announcements from today's PlayStation State of Play here.
