US Blocks Marvel Snap Over TikTok Restrictions

Second Dinner, a California-based studio, developed the engaging game Marvel Snap, which is published by Nuverse, a ByteDance subsidiary. Unfortunately, due to broader app restrictions, Marvel Snap faced a sudden ban alongside other ByteDance apps such as CapCut and Lemon8. This unexpected move led to the game's removal from iOS and Android platforms on January 18, 2025.

The ban has sparked numerous complaints from players, primarily concerning authorization issues. However, PC gamers can still access Marvel Snap via Steam, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the turmoil. The developers at Second Dinner expressed their surprise and disappointment over the incident, assuring fans that they are diligently working to restore the game's availability. In an official statement from Platform X, they reiterated their commitment:

"Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress."

One of the most frustrating elements of this situation was the lack of warning provided to players. Many were unaware of the impending lockout and continued to invest in in-game purchases, unaware that their access to the game would soon be cut off.

While Marvel Snap suffered from the ban, not all ByteDance apps were affected. Games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain accessible, providing some relief to the gaming community.

In other news related to Marvel Snap, the recent addition of Moonstone, an ongoing card, has generated significant interest. Moonstone, a 4/6 card from the game's Ongoing archetype, fills a critical need within the current meta. Her unique ability allows her to replicate the ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in her lane. Given the abundance of low-cost Ongoing cards like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, which typically boost power, Moonstone's capacity to gain these effects for free positions her as a potential game-changer.
