Blizzard was selling skin in Overwatch 2, but announced a free giveaway 24 hours later
Blizzard finds itself at the heart of another Overwatch 2 controversy. A new Lucio skin, the Cyber DJ, initially appeared in the in-game store for $19.99, only to be revealed a day later as a free reward.
The Cyber DJ skin was available for purchase before Blizzard announced a Twitch livestream event on February 12th. Viewers watching for an hour would receive the skin at no cost. This understandably angered players who had already paid for it.

This isn't the first time Blizzard has sold cosmetic items and later offered them free through promotions, leading to widespread calls for refunds. While the Cyber DJ skin has been removed from the store, Blizzard hasn't addressed refund requests.
Facing stiff competition, particularly from the successful Marvel Rivals, Blizzard is countering with a major announcement. A special Overwatch 2 Spotlight event on February 12th will showcase revolutionary gameplay changes, new maps, heroes, and other content. Prominent streamers will also be given a preview at Blizzard headquarters.
