Patch 8 Stress Test Gets Bug Fixes in New Update

Exclusively for Testers

BG3 Patch 8 Is So Big, It Needs To Be Stress Tested

Larian has deployed an update to the Patch 8 stress test build, resolving various bugs, crashes, and scripting errors. It also ensures that Gale correctly consumes magical items as designed. Please note that this update is only available for download to those with access to the Patch 8 stress test on their designated platform. Players not in the test will need to wait for the complete, finalized patch to experience all the new improvements and content.

Key updates include containers within inventories now retaining their contents when destroyed, easier screenshot functionality for Steam Deck users in Photo Mode, adjustments for more responsive character poses, enhanced cross-play, updated tooltip values for the Booming Blade spell, and fixes for multiple crash issues. For a full list of improvements, visit the official Baldur's Gate 3 website for the latest news and announcements.

Reportedly one of the last major content updates from Larian before the team concludes its work in Faerûn, Patch 8 is shaping up to be a massive release, which explains the need for thorough stress testing. This patch is set to introduce platform cross-play, over 12 new subclasses—including options like Death Domain Cleric, Path of Giants Barbarian, and Arcane Archer Fighter—and the highly anticipated Photo Mode.

Photo Mode Offers Extensive Customization

While awaiting the official release of Patch 8, players can watch an in-depth sneak peek video demonstrating how to maximize the potential of the upcoming Photo Mode. Larian has stated its goal is for players to "get the absolute most out of Photo Mode from the very start."

Photo Mode is accessible nearly anywhere and at any time—during exploration, combat, and even in multiplayer sessions by the host. You can pose companions and characters exactly as you envision, with or without party members, and even add extra elements like a leaping frog that dominates half the frame. The free-moving camera is a welcome addition, allowing players to capture the perfect angle.

After snapping your shot, you can enhance it with post-processing effects, stickers, and custom frames. It's important to note, however, that during dialogue and cinematic cutscenes, players will be limited to applying post-processing effects and will not be able to adjust character poses.

This preview is just the beginning. Larian plans to release a tips and tricks video to further inspire creativity and help the community's aspiring photographers.
