The Witcher 4 Beta Test Invite Scam
CD Projekt Red Issues Warning
The Witcher 4's developer, CD Projekt Red, has alerted players about a scam involving fake beta test invites circulating online. On April 16, CD Projekt Red took to The Witcher’s official X (formerly Twitter) account to address the issue. They stated, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using."
They further emphasized that any future beta tests would be announced officially through The Witcher's social media and websites.
First Revealed in December 2024
The Witcher 4 was first unveiled at the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer that introduced Ciri as the new protagonist. This announcement stirred the community, as Geralt had been the central figure in the previous three games.
In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4's Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, discussed the fan reactions to Ciri's new role. Weber, who also enjoyed playing Geralt, assured fans that the team is committed to addressing their concerns in upcoming reveals. He stated, "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."
The Witcher 4's Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, expressed gratitude for the support received on the decision to make Ciri the lead. "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released," he remarked.
CD Projekt Red aims to make The Witcher 4 the most ambitious entry in the series, introducing new regions and monsters. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific release date has not yet been announced. Stay tuned for more updates by checking out our article below!
