Atelier Resleriana Shuts Down in Late March
Koei Tecmo has officially announced the end-of-service for Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just a year after its global launch. The game will cease all operations on March 28th, with in-game purchases ending on January 27th. In the meantime, the developers have planned several events to allow players to fully enjoy the remaining time with the game.
The decision to shut down comes after the developers admitted they could no longer meet the standards they initially set. Despite their efforts to improve the game through various updates and events, they ultimately found it unfeasible to continue operations. Players can still use Lodestar Gems for in-game activities until the shutdown, although they can no longer purchase them.
For many fans of Atelier Resleriana, this news might not be entirely unexpected. The gacha market is intensely competitive, with numerous games vying for players' attention. Atelier Resleriana introduced some innovative ideas but struggled with key challenges. Gacha and banner rates drew significant criticism, often leaving players feeling stuck in their progression. The alchemy mechanics, a hallmark of the Atelier series, failed to capture the creativity and engagement expected from fans. While the gameplay was functional, it lacked the excitement needed to stand out against other top titles in the genre.
Atelier Resleriana faced significant challenges from the start, and in retrospect, the signs of its struggles were evident. Social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit are now filled with players requesting an offline version, though such a possibility seems unlikely. If you've cherished the turn-based RPG experience, make the most of these final months before the adventure concludes.
