Alcyone: Sci-Fi Visual Novel Offers Multiple Endings

A Long-Awaited Debut
Alcyone: The Last City, the ambitious sci-fi visual novel from Australian indie developer Joshua Meadows, finally has a release date. After years in development following its 2017 Kickstarter campaign, the game launches on April 2, 2025 at 6 AM PST. It will be available as a single cross-platform purchase on Steam (Windows, macOS, Linux/SteamOS), Android, and iOS.
Survival in the Last Bastion of Humanity
Set in the final remaining city after a cosmic catastrophe called the Nihility consumed the universe at light speed, Alcyone presents a rich narrative of survival and power struggles. The game challenges players to make meaningful choices that reshape their experience, from available story paths to multiple possible endings.
The City maintains a fragile existence under the governance of the Six Ruling Houses, where traditional concepts of life and death take on new meanings. Death isn't necessarily permanent in this carefully controlled society that clings to existence at reality's edge.
Your Identity, Your Choices
Players begin as a "rebirth" - a blank slate with implanted memories, free to either uphold the system's fragile order, dismantle it entirely, or manipulate it for personal gain. The story weaves political intrigue with survival challenges across 250,000 words of branching narrative.
The game offers deep roleplaying through its character system and presents seven distinct endings based on player decisions. Romantic subplots include five potential relationships, with options for aromantic pathways as well.
Fans of narrative-rich games like Fallen London or sci-fi epics such as Revelation Space will find familiar appeal in this ambitious project. Those interested can visit the game's Kickstarter page or official website for more details.
