Sin embargo, un aspecto de la película provocó críticas generalizadas: el CGI solía traer de vuelta al difunto Ian Holm, quien interpretó a Android Ash en el original *Alien *. La aparición póstumo de Holm en * Alien: Romulus * a través de CGI se encontró con desaprobación por ser poco realista y distractor, tanto que un popular fanático de los fanáticos eliminó por completo a su personaje de la narración.

El director Fede Álvarez ha reconocido la reacción y tomó medidas para abordarla para el lanzamiento de la casa. En una entrevista con Empire, Álvarez admitió que las limitaciones de tiempo durante la postproducción condujeron a CGI deficiente: "Acabamos de salir de tiempo en la postproducción para hacerlo bien.
