Conquering the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord residing in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer is situated at the maze's center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of Oakheart Highcourt, near the Resonance Beacon. Players can climb or utilize the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer Board Game

Inside, you'll find the Lifer and a six-piece board game. Control the black pieces to connect three in a row before the Lifer (white pieces) does. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens maze walls and gates in that direction. Exiting preserves piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for debuffing the Lifer. Avoid winning before removing buffs; the Lifer will immediately attack.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance, while three are permanent. View buffs via the glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (Fragility):

  • Growing Loneliness: HP recovery (10% Max HP/second) after 2+ seconds without attack.
  • Desire for Escape: ATK increase (25%), further boosted by 25% every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: ATK increase (20%) per DMG instance, stacking to 4 times (resets after 6 seconds without DMG).
  • Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all elemental damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc); 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs (Stability):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP DMG in a single hit.

Use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to Stakes of Imbalance. Manipulate the board game to open gates to these outer ring rooms (each requiring a different task: defeating Tacet Discords, breaking rocks, or simply finding it on a table). Stakes glow white. Place each Stake in the module near its corresponding winged statue to remove a buff (purple lines turn yellow).

Defeating the Lifer

After removing the four removable buffs, engage the Lifer (via the board game or "Fight it out!"). The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker. Its attacks pose minimal threat.

Rewards for defeating the Lifer:

  • First Victory: Premium Supply Chest
  • Second Victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
  • Third Victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests

Re-enable buffs via the modules for a greater challenge (no achievements tied to this).

Lifer Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (three victories).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game 10 times.

For the board game, focus on preventing the Lifer from creating a line; it will eventually make a mistake.
