Stardew Valley creator, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, has made a heartfelt promise to his dedicated fans: all future DLCs and updates for the beloved farming simulator/RPG will remain free. This commitment was publicly shared on Twitter(X), where Barone discussed the ongoing progress of Stardew Valley's ports and the next PC update, reassuring fans that he's working diligently on the mobile port every day.

In response to a fan's comment about not minding the wait "as long as everything you add is completely free," Barone took a solemn oath, stating, "I swear on the honor of my family name, I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live." This vow not only solidifies his dedication to Stardew Valley but also reflects his deep respect and empathy towards the gaming community.

Since its release in 2016, Stardew Valley has received substantial updates that enhance its gameplay and introduce new content. The latest update, version 1.6.9, brought exciting additions like three new festivals, the ability to have multiple pets, expanded home renovations, new outfits, late-game content, and various quality of life improvements.

Barone’s promise extends beyond Stardew Valley. He is currently developing a new game, Haunted Chocolatier, though details remain sparse. Fans eagerly await further announcements about this upcoming project.

As the sole developer of Stardew Valley, Barone's unwavering commitment to his community is evident. He even encouraged fans to "Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath," ensuring that players can continue enjoying new and engaging content without any additional cost, even as the game celebrates its seventh year.
