Largest Roster From The Series Ever

According to a PlayStation.blog post dated February 12, 2025, by Sega of America Associate PR Manager Thalia Piedra, *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds* will boast an impressive lineup of characters from the Sonic and Sega universes. While the trailer showcased primarily Sonic franchise characters, the game's official website promises 23 characters at launch, with more to be added later.

The trailer highlighted familiar faces such as Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and Amy, alongside characters from *Sonic Riders* like Jet, Wave, and Storm. Fans also spotted Zavok and Zazz from the Deadly Six, as well as Team Dark members Shadow, Rouge, and E-123 Omega. Dr. Eggman and his creations, Egg Pawn and Metal Sonic, make an appearance too. The Chaotix team, featuring Vector, Charmy, and Espio, rounds out the roster, along with Blaze, Silver, Cream, and Big.

Travel Rings Will Transport Characters To Different CrossWorlds

The game introduces a unique mechanic called Travel Rings, which will transport racers to different worlds in real-time during races. These CrossWorlds, as described by Piedra, will dramatically change the race environment, bringing players to new locations with thrilling surprises such as large monsters, engaging obstacles, and scenic tracks. This feature aims to deliver a theme park-like experience.

The dynamic tracks, inspired by past titles like *Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed*, will evolve with each lap, challenging players to adapt to new conditions. The game will include 24 main tracks and 15 CrossWorlds for racers to explore.

*Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds* offers unprecedented vehicle customization options. A preview posted on Twitter (X) on February 17, 2025, showcased the ability to modify various parts of the vehicle, including the front and rear, wheels, and deep color customization for the body, tires, cockpit, and overall glow.

Players can also equip their characters with Gadgets, tailoring them to fit their play style with 23 different power-up items. The game will feature 45 unique original vehicles, including the return of Extreme Gear from *Sonic Riders*, offering a boost-based racing style on flying hoverboards.

Sonic Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka emphasized that *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds* is a culmination of all the Sonic Racing series games to date, promising a rich and engaging experience for both new and veteran players.
