Official: Dungeonborne is preparing to shut down
The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the acclaimed Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support and the impending closure of its servers. Launched with much anticipation, the game unfortunately struggled to maintain player engagement, ultimately resulting in its premature end after less than a year of operation. The primary reasons for this decision appear to be the dwindling player base and the absence of substantial updates to keep the community invested.
While Dungeonborne's page remains visible on Steam, it has been removed from the platform's search functionality and can only be accessed via a direct link. Although the official statement did not specify the reasons for the shutdown, the critically low number of active players is evidently a significant factor. From late 2024, the game's concurrent player count hovered around a mere 200, and in its final days, this number plummeted to between 10 and 15 players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled to be permanently shut down on May 28, marking the definitive conclusion of the game's journey. This closure signifies the end of a project that initially captured the attention of fans within its genre but ultimately failed to fulfill its promise and sustain a viable community.
