Marvel Rivals players will start getting banned on consoles for using the keyboard and mouse
NetEase Games has announced a ban on keyboard and mouse adapters in Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. The company cites unfair advantages gained from increased control sensitivity and aim assist retention as the reason for the ban.
Adapters such as XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from keyboard and mouse controls, are specifically targeted. This creates an uneven playing field, particularly in competitive modes, especially when auto-targeting is enabled.
NetEase's statement clarifies that any device or program emulating gamepad control via keyboard and mouse is considered a violation. Sophisticated detection tools have been implemented to identify and ban offending accounts.
Separately, the game has also shown a correlation between higher FPS and increased ping. While less noticeable at lower ping levels, a jump from, for example, 90ms to 150ms can significantly impact gameplay. This issue appears linked to frame rate. Until a patch addresses this, players are advised to experiment with FPS settings to find an optimal balance between frame rate and ping. Some players suggest maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary solution, though this may differ from optimal settings in other games.
