FF16 Mods Sought to Respect Boundaries
Final Fantasy XVI director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) has politely requested fans avoid creating or installing “offensive or inappropriate” modifications for the game's upcoming PC release.
Final Fantasy XVI's PC Launch: September 17th
Yoshi-P's Request Regarding Mods
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Yoshi-P addressed the modding community, urging them to refrain from developing or using mods deemed "offensive or inappropriate." While PC Gamer inquired about potentially humorous mods, Yoshi-P prioritized the prevention of harmful content. He declined to specify examples, stating that providing suggestions might inadvertently encourage unwanted creations. His primary concern is maintaining a respectful gaming environment.
Given Yoshi-P's experience directing other Final Fantasy titles, his request likely stems from encounters with problematic modifications in the past. Modding communities, such as Nexusmods and Steam Workshop, host a wide range of content, from graphical enhancements to cosmetic alterations. However, NSFW and other offensive materials also exist. While Yoshi-P didn't provide specifics, the intention is clear: to discourage the creation and distribution of such content.
Final Fantasy XVI's PC version boasts improvements including a 240fps frame rate cap and various upscaling technologies. Yoshi-P's request underscores a commitment to maintaining a positive and respectful player experience alongside these technical advancements.
