Alexa Plus Now Available on Select Echo Show Devices

Author : Grace Update : Apr 04,2025

Introducing Alexa+, the latest evolution of the beloved Alexa voice assistant, now enhanced with generative AI. Currently available in Early Access, Alexa+ promises a more natural, conversational interaction, making it feel more like chatting with a friend than using a device. Amazon describes Alexa+ as "more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done." This upgrade is set to revolutionize the way you interact with your smart home devices.

To experience Alexa+ in its Early Access phase, you'll need one of the select Echo Show devices: the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, or 21. If you own or are planning to purchase one of these, you can sign up for notifications about when Early Access will become available by visiting the link below. After the Early Access period, Alexa+ will be accessible as a free benefit for Amazon Prime members or available for a monthly fee of $19.99 for non-Prime users.

With Alexa+, the possibilities are vast. You can engage in spontaneous conversations, asking anything that comes to mind. Whether it's managing your to-do list, retrieving specific calendar details, or making restaurant reservations, Alexa+ is designed to assist seamlessly. Amazon's Early Access page for Alexa+ also hints at "new features being added regularly," suggesting that the capabilities of this upgraded assistant will continue to expand post-Early Access.

However, not all devices will immediately support Alexa+. Older generation Echo devices, including the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen, will continue to operate with the original Alexa. Amazon has plans to extend Alexa+ compatibility to more devices in the future, including Fire TV, Fire tablets, and Alexa.com, ensuring broader access to this advanced technology.
