Sony está desarrollando activamente un nuevo reinicio de la icónica franquicia de Starship Troopers , con el aclamado director Neill Blomkamp, conocido por películas como el Distrito 9 , Elysium y Chappie , listo para dirigir el proyecto. Esta nueva adaptación, confirmada por fuentes de buena reputación, incluidas The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline y Variety, se basa directamente en la novela de ciencia ficción militar de 1959 de Robert A. Heinlein y será producida por Columbia Pictures de Sony.

Curiosamente, esta nueva película no será una secuela o relacionada con el clásico de culto de Paul Verhoeven, Starship Troopers , que ofreció una versión satírica del trabajo de Heinlein.
