Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki displayed a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has issued a statement clarifying the situation. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's confirmation that the images and videos circulating are not official. The company explicitly stated that Genki's showcased hardware is unofficial and was not provided by Nintendo.

Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and video game console accessories (including controllers, SSDs, and chargers), had generated significant buzz by presenting the mockup and allegedly revealing details about a "real" Switch 2 unit, including a purported release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup.

This contradicts Nintendo's official stance. While Nintendo has confirmed plans to release information about the Switch 2 soon and has acknowledged backwards compatibility with the original Switch, they haven't publicly shared any other details. Given Genki's claims, Nintendo may feel pressured to officially announce the console sooner rather than later.
