Insider: GTA 6 special edition and additional GTA Online payments can cost up to $150

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto, spearheaded the trend of $70 AAA game pricing. Concerns exist that this pricing model might extend to Grand Theft Auto VI.

While the standard GTA VI edition might remain in the $70 range, avoiding a price point of $80-$100, industry insiders suggest a premium edition priced between $100 and $150 could be offered, potentially including early access.

According to Tez2, Rockstar/Take-Two's established practice of selling online components (like GTA Online and Red Dead Online) separately will continue with GTA VI. However, GTA VI will be unique in launching with online sold separately, while the story mode will be bundled as part of a "complete package" encompassing both.

This dual-release strategy necessitates careful pricing considerations. The cost of the standalone online component will impact the overall price, as will the potential upgrade cost for story mode access for those who initially purchased only the online version.

A lower price point for the online component could attract budget-conscious gamers, who might then be incentivized to upgrade to access the story mode. This presents a further revenue opportunity, as some players may lack the funds for the upgrade.

Take-Two could leverage this by offering a subscription model similar to Xbox Game Pass through GTA+. Players choosing continuous gameplay over saving for the story mode upgrade would generate consistent revenue, further benefiting Take-Two.
