Atlus producer Kazushi Wada reiterates the unlikelihood of Persona 3 Portable's popular female protagonist (FeMC), Kotone Shiomi/Minako Arisato, appearing in Persona 3 Reload. This decision, explained in a recent PC Gamer interview, stems from significant development challenges and budgetary constraints.
Wada clarifies that while the FeMC's inclusion was initially considered alongside the post-launch Episode Aigis - The Answer DLC, the substantial time and cost proved insurmountable. The scope of adding the FeMC would have far exceeded that of the Aigis DLC, making it infeasible within the current development timeline.
Released in February, Persona 3 Reload is a full remake of the 2006 JRPG classic. While faithfully recreating many original features, the FeMC's absence has disappointed many fans. Despite this, Wada's statements leave little room for future inclusion, stating that it is "likely never going to happen." This echoes previous comments to Famitsu, where he emphasized the prohibitive development time and cost.
The FeMC's popularity fueled fan expectations for her appearance in Persona 3 Reload, either at launch or as DLC. However, Wada's latest remarks definitively quell these hopes, highlighting the impracticality of such an undertaking.
